NEET Frequently Asked Questions

? I have attempted AIPMT three times. Can I apply for NEET? Is there any restriction on the number of chances for NEET?

= There is no limit on the number of times you can take the NEET Examination. The examination being conducted in 2013 is the first NEET Examination. Even if you have attempted AIPMT, three times, there is nothing that prevents you from appearing for NEET 2013.

? I am 28 years old. Can I apply for NEET?

= You can apply for NEET. But you will be considered only for the seats except the All India Quota seats if you are a General category candidate. But if you belong to SC/ST/OBC category, you will be considered for All India Quota seats also. The upper age limit for All India Quota seats is 25 years as on 31.12.2013 and that for SC/ST/OBC, 30 years as on this date. For other seats, there is no upper age limit.

? I have passed Plus Two with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science and English. I have passed in Biology of Plus two after that. Can I appear for NEET?

= To be eligible to appear for NEET, you should have studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology including practical test in these subjects and passed an examination equivalent to that of Class XII, from a recognized Board/University. So Biology has to be studied as part of the Plus Two scheme. As such, you are not eligible to appear for NEET.

? I have passed Class XII examination from the National Institute of Open Schooling with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. Can I apply for NEET?

= Certainly you can apply, subject to the other eligibility conditions being satisfied by you.

? I plan to remit the fee by Challan. This can be done only after filling Part I. If I come out and pay fee, how can I fill Part II of the Application? Will Part I details be there?
= Of course. When you fill Part I, you will get a Registration number. Then you can remit the Fee. After that you can login again with your register number and date of birth to complete Part II. Details of Part I will be retained.

? Where can I get the details of the branches of Banks and Post Offices where I can remit the Fee?
= It is available at the link, http://cbseneet.nic.in/cbseneet/BranchLoactor.htmlwhere you can search for the branches of Canara and Syndicate Banks and Post Offices that will accept the fee.

? Will there be another test for those qualifying in NEET as in the case of AIPMT?
= No. NEET is a single stage Entrance Examination and the admission to MBBS/BDS will be based on the score in NEET.

? Are all the Medical/Dental Colleges in the country included in NEET?
= All except two Institutions of National importance come under the purview of NEET 2013 as per the Information Bulletin. The two institutions that do not come under the purview of NEET as per the Information Bulletin are All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi and Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puthussery.

? I have made a mistake in my date of birth while registering online. I am not able to change it now. What is to be done?
= You will be given a chance to correct errors in the personal details in the application at a later stage after the closing date of submission of application. You will not however, get a chance to change the examination centre opted, language of question paper and the states of eligibility. Keep watching the announcements at the NEET website regularly for the latest information.

? If I opt only for All India Quota under NEET, will I be considered only for the 15% All India Quota seats?
= Yes. The applicant has the facility to opt for All India Quota., State Quota, Private Medical Colleges, AFMC etc. If you opt for/select only the All India Quota, the implication is that you are interested only in the All India Quota seats which come to 15% of seats in Government Medical/Dental Colleges in the country and so you will be considered only for the All India Quota. If you are interested in state quota(s) based on your eligibility for that, you can give the choice to State quota(S) also in addition to AIQ.

? I am not interested in All India Quota seats. My interest is only to the five Government Medical Colleges in Kerala. Should I apply for NEET 2013?
= You should. NEET is not for selection to All India Quota alone. It is also a test for selection to various state quota seats also. So if you are interested in admission to the five Government Medical Colleges in Kerala, you must apply for NEET. Remember that you have a chance to get allotment in Kerala in a Government Medical College in the state through the 15% All India Quota seats also. So there is nothing wrong in opting for All India Quota and State Quota (Kerala).

? I have applied for NEET 2013 by giving my option to the State quota seats in Kerala. Should I apply again to the Commissioner for Entrance Examination in Kerala?
= Certainly, you have to. When the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations invites applications for KEAM 2013, you should apply to the Commissioner as per that Notification to be considered for admission to MBBS/BDS. By just opting for ‘Kerala’ state quota in NEET, you will not be considered for MBBS/BDS admissions under KEAM. For that you have to apply to the CEE, Kerala at the appropriate time.
