NEET UG : Facility for correction in February

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially announced the dates for correction in online form for candidates of NEET-UG 2013. Those who already applied online and want to do some corrections can do it in February.  This is a one time opportunity and is related to corrections in personal particulars only. This facility shall be available during the period 1st February, 2013 to 28th February, 2013.

Correction in City of Centre/Choice of Seats/Questions Paper Medium/ Category/ Nationality are not allowed. After correction, Candidates may print correction slip and retain the same for reference and record. Candidates are advised not to make any correspondence regarding corrections with the CBSE.

Status of receipt of Confirmation Page of Applications in the CBSE can also be viewed on-line on website www.cbseneet.nic.in with effect from 15th January, 2013 onwards. Candidates are also advised to visit the website of NEET-UG regularly for latest updates.

NEET UG 2013: Application from December 1

The notification for the much awaited first National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for admission to medical under graduate courses (NEET UG) will be published by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on 1st December. Online application will begin on the same day and continue till 31st December.The Exam will be held on 5th May 2013. Applications with late fee will be accepted from 1st to 31st January 2013.

There will be three centres for exam in Kerala,ie; Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode. Altogether 45,000 MBBS seats and 25,000 BDS seats are to be filled up on the basis of NEET UG. There will be facility for giving options to All India Quota,State Quota, private medical colleges and AFMC while submitting applications. CBSE Class XII results on Monday

Speculations regarding the announcement date of CBSE Class XII exam results have come to an end with the latest update on www.results.gov.in that the results will be declared on May 28. As per the information, Central Board of Secondary Education will publish the results at 11 am on Monday. The result will be available atwww.cbseresults.nic.in

According to the pre-examination data released by CBSE, 8,15,537 candidates had registered for the class XII exams held during March-April, 2012.

CBSE has published the time-table for Class X & XII examination scheduled to begin on 1st march, 2012. Class X exams will conclude on 26 March 2012 and that of Class XII on 13 April 2012.

AIPMT 2012 on April 1 & May 13

No NEET this year. AIPMT is back. So apply fast.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the dates of the AIPMT 2012 Preliminary and Final Examinations for admission of candidates to the 15% All India Quota seats for MBBS/BDS. AIPMT Preliminary Examination will be held on 1st April, 2012 (Sunday) and the AIPMT Final Examination, on 13th May, 2012 (Sunday) as per a press release issued by the CBSE yesterday.

In the Press release, CBSE has clarified that this has been necessitated on account of the permission sought from the Supreme Court by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India to allow introduction of NEET for Under Graduate Medical Courses from the academic year 2013-14 instead of 2012-13.

Central Board of Secondary Education has also made it clear that the eligibility conditions, centre cities, syllabus, pattern, etc. will remain the similar to AIPMT 2011 Examination for which the information is already available on website www.aipmt.nic.in and that the schedule for the submission of application forms would be shortly communicated.

The All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination, 2012 will be for admission to the 15% All India Quota seats for MBBS/BDS courses, in the Medical/Dental Colleges of India except Jammu & Kashmir and Andhar Pradesh, as specified in the directive of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. This will be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi in two stages.

Preliminary Examination: The first stage of the entrance examination, the Preliminary Examination to be held on April 1, 2012(Sunday), would consist of one paper of 3 hours duration containing 200 objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology). Each question will be followed by four options with single correct answer which is to be marked on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only.

Final Examination: The Final Examination for those who qualify in the Preliminary Examination, will be held on May 13, 2012 (Sunday), would also consist of one paper of 3 hours duration with 120 objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology). Each question will have four options with single correct answer, to be marked on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only.

Centres of Examination : The Preliminary Examination is expected to be held at Itanagar, Agartala, Port Blair, Shillong , Imphal, Panaji, Puducherry, Guwahati, Trivandrum, Cochin, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Patna, Ranchi, Mumbai, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Shimla, Lucknow, Noida, Dehradun, Chandigarh, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangaluru, Bhopal, Raipur and Jaipur.  The final Examination is expected to be held at Cochin, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Ranchi, Mumbai, Lucknow, Delhi, Kolkata, Bhopal and Jaipur.

ELIGIBILITY:

Nationality and Age: Applicant should be an Indian National and should have completed 17 years at the time of admission or should be completing the age on or before 31st December, 2012. Upper age limit will be 25 years as on 31st December, 2012. This would be relaxed by 5 years for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Other Backward Classes. So, applicants should have been born on or between 1.1.83 and 1.1.96 in case of SC/ST/OBC Category and on or between 1.1.88 and 1.1.96 in case of all other categories.

Qualifying examinations: Applicant should have passed any one of the following qualifying examinations

(i) Higher/Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher/Senior Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology (which shall include practical tests in these subjects) and Mathematics or any other elective subject with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training after introduction of the 10+2+3 educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education
(ii) The Intermediate/Pre-Degree Examination in Science of an Indian University/Board or other recognized examining body with Physics, Chemistry, Biology /Bio-technology (which shall include practical test in these subjects) and English
(iii) The Pre-professional/Pre-medical Examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology & English after passing either the Higher Secondary Examination or the Pre-University or an equivalent examination. The Pre-professional/Pre-medical examination shall include practical test in these subjects
(iv) The first year of the 3 Year Degree course of a recognized University with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology including practical tests in these subjects provided the examination is a University Examination and further that applicant has passed the earlier qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology and English.
(v) B.Sc. Examination of an Indian University provided that applicant has passed the B.Sc. Examination with not less than two of the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology)/Bio-technology and further that he/she has passed the earlier qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English
(vi) Any other examination which in scope and standard (Last 2 years of 10+2 Study comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology; which shall include practical test in these subjects.) is found to be equivalent to the Intermediate Science Examination of an Indian University/Board, taking Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology including practical tests in each of these subjects and English.

Appearing candidates: Those taking the qualifying examination prior to the competitive test or those awaiting result were also permitted to apply for AIPMT. However, such applicants were not be eligible for admission to MBBS/BDS, if he/she did not pass the qualifying examination with the required pass percentage of marks at the time of first round of allotment by personal appearance.

Marks requirement: Applicants were required to have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology and English individually and required to have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology at the qualifying examination and in the competitive entrance examination. SC/ST/OBC applicants needed only 40% marks for Physics, Chemistry and Biology /Bio-technology together in the qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination. For persons with locomotory disability of lower limbs, the minimum marks was 45% for General-PH and 40% for SCPH/ST-PH/OBC-PH. Students of Indian Nationality educated abroad seeking admission to Medical colleges in India must have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology and English upto the 12th standard level with 50% marks and their equivalency will be determined as per regulations of the Medical Council of India and the concerned University.

Reservation: 15% seats were reserved for SC candidates, 7.5% for ST candidates and 27% for Non-Creamy layer OBC candidates in Central Educational Institutions only as per Hon’ble Supreme Court order dated 10.04.2008. Reservation would be applicable to the castes mentioned in the Central list of OBC. 3% seats are reserved on horizontal basis for PH candidates. The reservation will be made as per 2200 point reservation roster. The mode of implementation of reservation will be available atwww.mohfw.nic.in

Submission of Application: In 2011, there was provision for online submission and Offline submission of applications. The fee was Rs.700/- (General /OBC)/Rs. 350/- (SC/ST) which was to be remitted by Credit card or through Demand Draft drawn in favour of the’ Secretary, C.B.S.E., Delhi‘, on any Nationalized bank, payable at Delhi.

After submitting all the required details as per the instructions given at the site, applicants were required to take a print of the Online Application. The print out of the computer generated Application Form was to be sent by Speed Post / Regd. Post to reach the Board on or before the last date.

Offline Application Forms: For those applying offline, the Information Bulletin containing Application Form could be obtained on payment of Rs.800/- (General/OBC)/Rs. 450/- (SC/ST) by cash, from any of the 177 notified branches of Canara Bank . Banks charged Rs. 5/- as Service Charge for the sale of Information Bulletin in addition to the fee.

AIEEE 2012: Application to be online only

Application for AIEEE will be accepted only online this time through the CBSE/AIEEE Websites. Offline mode of submitting the applications is being dispensed with. It is proposed to accept the examination fee through CREDIT/DEBIT Cards or Demand Drafts. To facilitate the students for filling online application, a facilitation centre will be opened in each and every city from where physical forms were being sold in past. This has been announced by CBSE in Press Note of CBSE. The All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), 2012 will be held online in 22 cities across the country between 7th May 2012 and 25th May 2012 as per the note. The cities where AIEEE will be held online are the following. Ahemdabad Allahabad Bangaluru Bhopal Bhubaneshwar Chandigarh/Mohali/Pachkula Chennai Dehradun Delhi/NCR except Faridabad Eranakulam Hyderabad Jaipur Jalandhar Kolkata Kota Lucknow Mumbai Nagpur Noida Trivandrum Vijaywada Vishakhapatnam The CBSE has also informed that those applying for the online examination will be given a concession of Rs.150/- to Rs.300/- in examination fees. All India Medical Entrance on April 3

Applications have been invited in the prescribed form for All India Pre-Medical / Pre-Dental Entrance Examination (AIPMT) 2011 to be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi as per the following schedule for admission to 15% of the total seats for Medical/Dental Courses in all Medical/Dental Colleges run by the Union of India, State Governments, Municipal and other local authorities in India except in the States of ANDHRA PRADESH AND JAMMU & KASHMIR :-

1. Preliminary Examination - 3rd April, 2011 (Sunday)
2. Final Examination - 1tth May, 2011 (Sunday)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

(i) He/She has completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year M.B.B.S./B.D.S. course and is an INDIAN NATIONAL.

(ii) The upper age limit for All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination is 25 years as on 31st December of the year of the entrance examination. Further provided that upper age limit shall be relaxed by a period of 5 (five) years for the candidates of Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Other Backward Classes.

(iii) The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination shall be limited to 3 (three) uniformly for all the candidates.

(iv) The candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the qualifying examination. In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying examination be 40% instead of 50% for General Candidates. Further, for persons for locomotory disability of lower limbs, the minimum of 45% marks for General-PH and 40% marks for SC-PH/ST-PH/OBC-PH are required. Those who are taking plus two examination in 2010 can also appear for the entrance test provisionally subject to their fulfilling the conditions later.

(v) 15% seats for SC candidates, 7.5% seats for ST candidates, 27% seats for non-creamy layer OBC candidates in Central Institutions only and 3% seats on horizontal basis for Physically Handicapped candidates are reserved in 15% All India Quota for MBBS/BDS courses.

OFFLINE:

Offline submission of Application may be made on the prescribed Application Form. The Information Bulletin and Application Form costing Rs.800/- for General/OBC Category and Rs.450/- for SC/ST category can be obtained against Cash Payment from the designated branches of Canara Bank/Regional Offices of the CBSE between 13-12-2010 to 31-12-2010.

Information Bulletin and Application Form can also be obtained by Post from the Board by sending a written request with a Demand Draft for Rs.850/- for General/OBC Category and Rs.500/- for SC/ST Category payable to the Secretary, Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi along with a Self Addressed Envelope of size 12” x 10”. The request must reach to the Board on or before 24-12-2010. The request should be superscribed as “Request for Information Bulletin and Application Form for AIPMT-2011”.

ONLINE:

Online submission of application may be made by accessing the website www.aipmt.nic.in from 15-11-2010 (10.00 A.M.) to 31-12-2010 (5.00 P.M.). Instructions for sending online application, payment of fee and computer generated printout are available on the website www.aipmt.nic.in.

Fee of Rs.800/- for General/OBC Category Candidates and Rs.450/- for SC/ST Category Candidates may be remitted in the following ways:
1. By Credit card, or

CBSE Class X results on Friday 10 am

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will publish the results of the Class X final board examination for all regions at 10 am on Friday, the premier academic body announced on its website on Monday evening.

In a significant initiative, prior to publishing the results of Class X 2010 board exam, the CBSE on Saturday published a sample marksheet of Class X to give a clear picture to students and parents on how the revised marklist will look like.

For the first time marks will not figure in the marksheet and instead grades and grade points will be awarded to students of Class X. There will be a Cumulative Grade Point Average which is the average of Grade Points obtained in all the subjects excluding additional 6th subject as per scheme of studies.

The CBSE has also shown how an indicative equivalence of Grade Point and percentage of marks can be assessed.The grades are on a nine-point scale with the A1 Grade having a mark range of 91-100 and a Grade Point of 10. The A2 Grade has a mark range of 81-90 and a Grade Point of 9. The D Grade has a mark range of 33-40 and a Grade Point of 4. "Those candidates who have obtained Grade E1 or E2 in the subjects of External Examination shall have to improve their performance through maximum of five subsequent attempts to qualify the subject(s)," says the CBSE.

To be eligible for Qualifying Certificate, a candidate must obtain a minimum of Grade D in all subjects excluding additional 6th subject as per Scheme of Studies. Those awarded a Qualifying Certificate shall be eligible for admission in Class XI, informs the CBSE.

The results of more than 6.99 lakh students who appeared for class XII CBSE board examination this year will be declared on May 19. The results will be available on CBSE websites after 8.00 am.
The results will be available on CBSE websites after 8.00 am on May 19 and CBSE has made special arrangement for quick access of results by individuals as well as schools, the Board said in a statement.
The schools will be able to get entire results by registering their school code and email-id on CBSE websites.
Students too can get their results on their e-mail address by registering themselves on www.results.nic.in, www.cbseresults.nic.in and www.cbse.nic.in, it said.
The exams for class XII were held in March this year and the board saw an 8.80 per cent increase in the number of students sitting for the examination.

CBSE Class XII (Class 12) results by Wednesday

The CBSE Class XII 2010 results will be announced anytime from now. The Class X results will take three or four days more than that, that's what the signals emnating from CBSE sources indicate.

With the Kerala Medical and Engineering results set to be announced on May 17 and with Kerala Plus Two and the higher secondary results in different states being announced these days, students are living on the edge of anxiety.

Twelve lakh to write AIEEE today

About 12 lakh engineering aspirants across the country will take the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) on Sunday.Conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Examinations (CBSE), the exam score is accepted by premier engineering colleges of the country. Some institutes that accept the score are the National Institutes of Technology (NIT) and Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIIT), besides a few other central and state-funded institutions. Last year, over 9.5 lakh students had appeared for the examination.

The entrance examination will be held in two phases on Sunday. During the morning session, students will appear for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The score will be taken into account for admission to Bachelor of Technology (BTech) and Bachelor of Engineering (BE) courses.

The second session will have papers on Mathematics, Aptitude Test and Drawing for students aspiring to join Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Planning courses.

Students looking for a seat in coveted institutes have devised strategies to clear the exam. Compared to other exams, AIEEE is considered lengthier.

AIEEE admit cards sent

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) which is conducting the ninth All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) 2010 for admissions to B.E./B.Tech. and B.Arch./B. Planning in various national level institutes has informed that it has despatched the admission cards for candidates appearing in the examination.

The CBSE in a release said all candidates will receive their admission cards latest by 7th April 2010. "In case any candidate does not receive his/her admit card, he/she may contact CBSE immediately to get duplicate admit card. A list of all the candidates and their examination centre has been displayed on Board’s website www.aieee.nic.in and www.cbse.nic.in . The candidates may also check their particulars after punching their application form number or registration number of AIEEE 2010," the release said.

The CBSE said in few of the cases, the medium of question paper has been mentioned as Hindi in lieu of English or has been left blank. "It is for information of all such candidates that wherever the medium of question paper has been mentioned as Hindi or left blank, the question paper will be bilingual i.e. Hindi and English; and therefore, such candidates who have inadvertently mentioned the medium of question as Hindi in place of English need not worry," the release added.

The AIEEE is being held for admission to NITs, IIITs, Deemed Universities, Government funded institutions, DTU and State Institutes of Haryana and Uttarakhand on 25th April 2010 all over India and abroad.

'Conserve heritage, score better' - CBSE tells students

Now the tall standing Qutab Minar or the echoing walls of the Humayun Tomb could soon fetch the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) students better marks if they pledge and take the initiative to conserve them.

The CBSE, in a circular dated January 7, 2010, to its schools has asked them to administer an oath to all students on January 12, which will be observed as the Heritage Day.

The CBSE has instructed the schools to involve their students in the protection of monuments in their vicinity and encourage them to organize seminars, quizzes, skits and exhibitions on heritage conservation.

According to CBSE, organizing such activities will help the students to score better in their continuous and comprehensive evaluation from up to class X for social science.

Sensitizing them on the issue, the CBSE aims to encourage them to respect all monuments, not to scribble, deface or encroach upon them and ensure all measures to conserve them.

CBSE chairperson, Vineet Joshi stated in his circular that, "The pledge may be administered at a local monument for which the schools can contact the local ASI office, State Archeological Department or INTACH. A separate notice will also be issued to the heads of these organizations by us so that the children can visit them from school."

As a part of a project in social science, the CBSE has specially emphasized on ‘adopt a heritage scheme’ where the students are supposed to adopt a historical building in their neighbourhood and take every possible measure to protect and create awareness about it.

The detailed circular mentioned the role of the students who can act as guides for the visitors and take them around the monument to explain its history, architectural features, connected stories, ethos etc.

"They can also distribute post cards, greeting cards and posters as souvenirs for the visitors. However, making a CD or collecting archival sources can also be done. The CD may contain the interviews of the visitors, actual caretakers, and those in authority by asking pertinent questions," the circular added.

With the introduction of this project, the CBSE is targeting not just the students but the entire school community.

Although this directive for the CBSE schools across the country is a recent one, but various schools in Delhi are already involved in the process and now plan to take it further with the encouragement from the Board.

Bharti Sharma, principal, Amity International School, Saket, said that, "It has been many years now that our students have been taking such projects of conservation but with the CBSE including it in the curriculum, it is expected to be a mass movement."

CBSE Date sheet 2010, Class 10th and 12th

THE CENTRAL Board of Secondary Education or CBSE has announced the date sheet for Class X and XII CBSE Board examination for the academic year of 2009-10. While the CBSE board exams for both Class 10th and 12th will begin from March 3, 2010, they will end on separate dates for the two years. The Class X exams would end on March 31, 2010 and the Class XII ones would end on April 8, 2010.

The first paper Class 10th CBSE exams would be music. Social Science will be held on March 5, while the second language paper (Urdu, Bengali, Tamil, Punjabi - will be held on March 8. Mathematics is on on March 11 and English on March 23. Science practicals, the last examination, will be held on March 31. The date sheet is available here: CBSE 10th Datesheet

The Class 12th CBSE exams will begin with Physics on March 3 for Science students and Business Studies on March 4 for Commerce students. Political Science and Chemistry will be held on March 6 and 8. The date sheet is available here: CBSE 12th Datesheet

CBSE Class X, XII board exams

The Class X and XII board exams of the Central Board for Secondary Education will be held from the first week of March, CBSE sources said today.

Though the detailed scheduled of the exams will be released in December, the sources said, the Class X results would be based on grades from this year.

Over 10 lakh students are expected to appear in the CBSE Class X and XII board exams this year.

Kapil Sibal's next agenda - making AIEEE online

A committee consisting of three National Institutes of Technology (NIT) Directors has been constituted to look into the current system of conducting the All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE).

The Committee will look at the possibility of making the exam online in addition to the regular pen and paper test being conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) at present.

The decision of constituting the Committee was taken during the first meeting of the NITs Council held here today under the Chairmanship of Union Minister for Human Resource Development (HRD), Mr. Kapil Sibal.

The Committee will also look into the structure of the entrance exam and as to whether weightage could be given to Class XII Exam results as Directors of the NITs were of the view that the proliferation of coaching institutes was skewing the pattern of entrants into the NITs.

The Committee consisting of the Directors of NITs Allahabad, Calicut and Agartala will submit its report by January and will also look at the problem of seats across NITs staying vacant despite a number of rounds of counseling - whether certain courses are not market friendly and are thus not drawing students - the Committee could recommend alternate courses etc.

During the meeting a decision was also taken to constitute a Committee to look into curriculum framework, i.e. revising the curriculum, looking at the current needs of the of the country, industry and the market and also design the curriculum looking at future needs of the country.

The Committee consisting of the Directors of NITs Trichy, Surathkal, and Warangal will also interact with industry organizations to know their requirements so that the students have the best possible job prospects.

Kapil Sibal also asked all the 20 NITs to give a vision statement which would be discussed in the next meeting of the NITs Council.

He also asked the NITs to show, in their vision statements, how they could build their brand image to attract talent from within the country and abroad. The vision could also include whether they would like to set up campuses abroad.

The Minister also underlined that the meetings of the Council would be held every six months. The Minister pointed out that with high growth in the country and the booming middle class, enormous requirement for professional courses, graduate programmes will be generated.

The Vision document thus should show how the NITs propose to expand. He also exhorted the NITs to charter a unique eco- system for themselves and also pay emphasis towards greater research and Doctoral, Post Doctoral work.

The Minister agreed to the NITs request that for the hiring of faculty, in case of exceptional circumstances, hiring can be of an individual at a higher grade pay with the approval of the Board of Governors of the NITs. Norms will have to be formulated by the NITs on when such exceptions can be made.

The Council also unanimously approved the setting up of a standing committee to go into the nitty-gritty of various proposals and suggestions that are received.

The Council authorized the Chairman and the Vice-chairman to constitute this committee.

Secretary, Higher Education, R.P. Agrawal welcomed the members of the IIT Council.

Informing them that all NITs would be provided with 1 Gbps of connectivity shortly, he asked them to use this to full extent. He also told the NIT Directors that the Performance Related Incentive System (PRIS) would be applicable in the NITs.

N.K. Sinha, Joint Secretary, Department of Higher Education, besides Chairmen, Board of Governors of NITs; Directors of the NITs, Chaiman, UGC among other members of the Council were present at the meeting.
