AMRITA ENGINEERING ADMISSIONS - 2013


Amrita VishwaVidyapeetham, has invited applications from eligible candidates for admission to the B Tech Programmes being offered at the various campuses of Amrita VishwaVidyapeetham. Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering branches are offered at Amritapuri, Bengaluru and Coimbatore campuses. Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering is offered at Bengaluru and Coimbatore. Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Civil Engineering are offered only at the Coimbatore campus.
Applicant should have been born on or after 1stJuly 1992. He/she should have a pass in the final examination of 10+2 (Class XII ) or its equivalent securing minimum of 60% marks in Mathematics, minimum of 55% separately in Physics and Chemistry with an aggregate of 60% in the three subjects. Those who hold a three year Diploma in Engineering with minimum 60% marks, awarded by any State Board of TechnicalEducation can also apply. Those who are appearing for the above examinations in April / May 2013 and expect to secure minimum marksas above may also apply.
Application form:  The Cost of Application Kit is Rs. 850/-, which covers the cost of Application form, University Brochure, Examination fee etc. Application form will be in a format that can be processed by Optical Mark Reader (OMR).
Application Kit can be obtained in person from the counter of Amrita Schools of Engineering at Amritapuri, Bengaluru and Coimbatore on producing a Demand Draft for Rs 850/- drawn in favour of Amrita School of Engineering payable at Coimbatore, from 21st December 2012 to 18th March 2013.
It can be obtained from the designated branches of Post Office, Dhanlaxmi Bank Ltd., Federal Bank and AXIS Bank during this period, on payment of   Rs.850/-. List of outlets can be seen at http://117.240.224.21/oars/static/applicationOutletsX1.php 
Semi - Online Application: In this mode, application can be submitted at University website, for which Internet banking facility is not required. After submitting the application, applicant should take a printout (Laser or inkjet only) of the completed application on a good quality A4 size paper; enclose a Demand Draft for Rs. 850/- drawn in fovour of ‘Amrita School of Engineering’, payable at Coimbatore, (with his / her Name and ‘B.Tech. Application’ written on the back side of the DD), paste a recent passport size colour photograph; affix signature of Candidate & Parent / Guardian and send in good quality envelope to ‘The Admission Co-ordinator, Amrita School of Engineering, Amrita VishwaVidyapeetham,Amritanagar Post, Ettimadai , Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu-641 112.
Applicants may keep a photocopy of the filled-in application and Demand Draft for future reference. Application can also be submitted onlineat the University Website for those having Internet banking facility. For this mode of applying, applicant should have (i) a Softcopy of recently taken passport size colour photograph (ii) a Softcopy of signature of Candidate and Parent / Guardian (iii) Internet banking facility. After submitting the application, applicant may take a printout of the computer generated application which can be retained by the candidate for reference.
Applications may also be obtained by Post, from the Admission Co-ordinators of Amrita Schools of Engineering at Amritapuri, Bengaluru and Coimbatore, on a written request indicating their full communication address together with a Demand Draft for Rs. 850/- drawn in favour of Amrita School of Engineering payable at Coimbatore.Candidate should write his / her name and ‘B.Tech-Application’ on the back of the Demand Draft.
In all cases other than online submission, the filled application/printout should reach ‘The Admission Co-ordinator,Amrita School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritanagar Post, Ettimadai, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu-641 112’by Speed Post, latest by20th March, 2013. Applications are processed only atthis office.
The University will start issuing the hall tickets, 30 days before the examination, mentioning the candidate’sregistration number and examination centre allotted and the details will be available in the University website.If one does not receive the hall ticket 10 days before the date of examination, they may contact the institute over 0422 ? 2685 169 / 170,on working days between 9 am and 4 pm, quoting the application number and examination centre opted.
Hall tickets of all Candidates will be uploaded to the University website three days prior to the exam. If needed,candidates can download their hall tickets, entering their application number and date of birth. In case applicant requires a duplicate hall ticket, applicant should contact the University Representative at the Examination centre on the previous day of the examination and produce Xerox copies of the DD and thefilled-in application to establish the candidature. Candidates shall retain their hall tickets and produce the same at the time of counselling.
The Entrance Examination will be of three hours duration and will be held from 10 am to 1 pm on 21.4.2013 at the cenres notified in the Information brochure. This can be downloaded from the website http://www.amrita.edu/
There willbe only one question paper containing objective type questions in Mathematics (60 questions), Physics and Chemistry (30 questions each).Each question will be followed by four answers of which only one is correct / most appropriate. Thequestion booklet will be in English. Each question carries 3 marksfor every incorrect answer, one mark will bededucted from the total score.
Rank list will be published in the University website within four weeks from the date of examination. Counselling for admission will be in May / June 2013. Counselling call letter will be sent to the eligiblecandidates after the publication of the rank list of the Amrita Entrance Examination. The counsellingschedule will be available in the university website.Counselling will be arranged simultaneously in the three campuses using satellite connectivity. Candidatecan appear for counselling in any one of the three campuses and opt a branch in any campus according to his / her preference and availability of seat.
