BSNL to start PC bundling scheme


The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will start a 'PC bundling scheme' from November 1 to promote broadband usage in rural areas.

The proposed 'PC bundling scheme' would provide its rural customers a package of personal computer, broadband facility and useful softwares at subsidised cost on 24 easy instalments of about Rs 300, BSNL Chairman and Managing Director, Kuldeep Goyal said on Thursday.

Addressing reporters here Goyal said that simple broadband tariff packages as low as Rs 99 would be introduced to rural customers.

He said 23,000 out of 29,000 rural exchanges have been enabled broadband connectivity in the state.

The 3-G services would be introduced to 27 towns in the state in phased manner, the BSNL CMD said adding in the first phase, these services would be launched in 12 towns including Hyderabad by the end of the November.

Goyal said the Mobile Number Portability facility would be introduced by March next to enable the mobile customer to carry their number on change of service.

Infrastructure upgradation has already been done at an additional cost of about Rs 1000 crore, he said.

Goyal said the BSNL has initiated several revenue generating measures to retain the total revenues of Rs 35,000 crore in the present financial year as achieved during last year.
