Applications are invited by Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur for admission to the PhD Programme (Regular and Sponsored categories) in all disciplines of Engineering & Technology, Science, Architecture & Regional Planning, Humanities & Social Sciences, Law and Management for Autumn Semester 2012.
Eligibility:
All candidates seeking admission to the PhD program shall have to possess requisite marks / grades in qualifying examination as shown below:
(i) 60% marks (or a CGPA of 6.5 in 10 point scale) in the qualifying examination in Engineering / Science / Commerce / Management or
(ii) 55% in Humanities or Social Sciences (or a CGPA of 6.0 in 10 point scale).
With MTech or equivalent qualifying degree the admitted student will also be given assistantship. Candidates who have merely qualified in NET examination but have not got a fellowship will not qualify for Institute Research Scholarship.
IIT BTech’s with CGPA >= 8.00 be given direct admission in PhD programme with assistantship
Minimum qualification required for admission to the PhD program is a degree in any one of the areas given below OR an equivalent of the aforesaid degrees.
Applicants are required to apply online at

Application fee is Rs. 500/- for General/OBC and Rs. 250/- for SC / ST candidates. Women candidates are exempted from the payment of application fees.
In order to fill in the online application, payment of application fee has to be made apriority. The payments are made through Demand Draft only. Demand drafts of Rs. 500/- (Rs. 250 for SC / ST category) should be made in favour of "IIT Kharagpur" on any nationalized bank payable at Kharagpur.
Place the Demand Draft, printed online application form with supporting documents in an envelope and send it to Assistant Registrar (PGS&R), Indian Institute of Technology , Kharagpur - 721302, West Bengal.
