CMAT- Management Aptitude Test by AICTE


All India Council for Technical Education has announced the schedule for the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT)-2012 for admission to the Management Programs in the AICTE approved Management Institutions, for academic year 2012-13.
Need for CMAT: CMAT aims at reducing the burden of students in attending multiple examinations and facilitating institutions to select suitable students for admission in all Management Programmes approved by AICTE for year 2012-13. The initiative has been taken to address the issue of physical, mental and financial stress being imposed on the students through number of entrance examinations being followed by the institutions for admission into all Management Programmes in AICTE approved institutions based on the relevant judgment of the Hon’ble Supreme Court.
The respective Secretaries of the state dealing with Technical Education and Vice-Chancellors of the Universities have been requested to advise the competent authority for admissions in their respective States & jurisdiction to use the scores of CMAT-2012 for allotment of students. The institutions and State governments are required to register online free of charge for opting to CMAT-2012 scores for admissions for academic year 2012-13. The minority institutions shall effect admissions as per the provision available for such categories.
Eligibility: Graduates in any discipline or Final year students of Graduate Courses can apply for CMAT. There is no age restriction for appearing in CMAT. One can appear for CMAT 2012 only once.
Test Centre and Timings: The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT)-2012 will be conducted online at Agartala, Agra, Ahmadabad, Allahabad, Ambala, Amritsar, Aurangabad, Bhuwaneshwar, Bangalore, Bareilly, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Cuttack, Dehradun, Delhi, Dhanbad, Dharwad, Durgapur, Ghaziabad, Gulbarga, Gurgaon, Guwahati, Gwalior, Hardwar, Hisar, Hosur, Hyderabad, Indore, Jabalpur, Jamshedpur, Jaipur, Jammu, Jodhpur, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolhapur, Kolkata, Kota, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Madurai, Mumbai, Mysore, Nagpur, Noida, Panaji, Patna, Pondicherry, Pune, Rajkot, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, Siliguri, Surat, Trichurapalli, Trivandrum and Vizag from 20th February to 28th February, 2012 in two shifts a day, with the first shift being from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and the second from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm.

An applicant can select up to 3 cities giving order of preference. Allotment of slots will be based on the first come first served principle and is subject to availability of the slots in a particular city.
Test Structure: CMAT will be a computer based test of three hours duration. A candidate will read the questions on a computer terminal and choose an answer by clicking on the correct option. It will have 4 sections with objective type questions from (i) Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation (25 questions carrying maximum 100 marks) (ii) Logical Reasoning (25, 100) (iii) Language Comprehension (25, 100) (iv) General Awareness (25, 100).
A candidate can move back and forth between the four sections. At the test centre, each candidate will be seated at a desk with a computer terminal and he/she will be provided with a scratch paper for calculations. Rough work cannot be done on any other paper/sheet, as nothing will be allowed inside the testing room. On completion of the test, candidates will have to return all the scratch paper to the Administrator.
There shall be negative marking for wrong answers. For each wrong answer, 1 mark shall be deducted.
Scores awarded will be used for admission in the Post Graduate Management Programmes, both at Degree & Diploma level at National level for year 2012-13. CMAT scores will help students seek admissions in all Management programmes (4 lakh seats) in AICTE approved Institutions / University Departments.
Application Fee: Application fee for General/OBC applicants will be Rs.1200 + Bank charges as applicable. For SC/ST/PD applicants, it will be Rs.600 + Bank charges as applicable. It can remitted online through www.aicte-cmat.inby Net Banking /Credit /Debit Card option. Option for Cash payment in any branch of State Bank of India, is also available ,using the Challan that would be generated online while registering for CMAT. 
Application: Application can be submitted only online. Registration window for CMAT opens on 9.12.11 at www.aicte-cmat.inRegistration can be done till 9.01.12. No data can be changed once the form is finally submitted.
Applicants are required to keep ready, a Computer with good Internet connectivity so that there is no breakage of Internet during registration, all qualification details as they will need to be entered while registering, a Valid e-mail id which the applicant will have to use for the next 6 months (All communication will be done on this e-mail id), a Valid mobile number as all information via SMS will be sent to this number, a valid Credit / Debit card in case the applicant wished to pay ONLINE, a Printer connected to the system so as to print 3 copies of CHALLAN in case applicant is planning to pay fees by CASH at the bank.
Registration process includes entering the process as NEW USER where the applicant should read the instructions carefully and accept the declaration to proceed. The next stage is the Self registration where, the applicant needs to enter few basic details. Submitting this page will generate a unique 8 digit password. This password will be shown on the screen and will be sent to the applicant via e-mail and SMS. This completes your self registration Whenever applicant wishes  to login to the registration portal, he/she will come as an EXISTING USER and login with e-mail id and the unique 8 digit password. The third stage is the Payment Process. The applicant can do the payment ONLINE using Credit card / Debit card / Net Banking facility. Once the payment is successfully done, the applicant will receive a confirmation e-mail and SMS. Once the successful payment confirmation is received, applicant can proceed with the remaining part of registration process. If the option for payment is decided as CASH Payment in SBI bank, applicant can select this option to pay by CASH at any of the designated SBI Bank branch. Once this option is selected, the applicant will see a CHALLAN on the screen with the details already filled in it. Take 3 PRINT OUTS of this CHALLAN, fill in the details wherever required in all the copies, and walk in to your nearest SBI bank branch with CASH on the next day of generation of Challan. Cash Deposit will be accepted only from the next day of Challan generation. The last date to pay CASH in bank is 10th January 2012 and from there onwards to complete registration is 12th January 2012.
After making payment, the applicant has to fill the remaining part of the form. Once complete form has been filled, the applicant may check the complete data entered. If needed, data can be modified by clicking on VIEW / MODIFY. Once you are sure that all the data entered is accurate, applicant will have to accept a declaration and click on SUBMIT. The system will re-confirm to applicant for SUBMIT. Once this is confirmed, the form will get finally SUBMITTED. No change in the data is possible after this SUBMIT. The applicant will see a message on the screen stating ‘Thank you for successfully registering for the AICTE CMAT 2012 exam. Please login from 30th Jan 2012 onwards to download your exam ADMIT CARD. Hall Ticket: Print out of Hall ticket can be taken from 30.01.2012. Candidates are required to arrive at the test centre not later than 8 am for shift 1 and by 1 pm for shift 2, for security checks, identity verification, and checking in.
Candidates will have to bring the following identification documents on the test day
(i) CMAT 2012 Admit Card with recent passport sized photo pasted on it
(ii) At least one original (not photocopied / scanned copy) and valid (not expired) photo identification with the name on photo identification matching the name as entered in the CMAT application. Acceptable forms of photo identification types are limited to Driver's license, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, UID card or a notarized Affidavit (in English) with Photo, Signature, Date of Birth and Residential Address. Photocopies of the original are not acceptable. Candidates will not be permitted to take the test if photo identification is not presented
(iii) Notarized copy of 10th Mark sheet or equivalent
Results: Results are expected to be declared on 11.03.12. Print out of Score Cards will be available from 11.03.12 to 11.04.12.
Admission Process: The Institutes and central admission authorities will use scores awarded to the students for allotment of seat in the registered management institutes.
