NDA & Naval Academy Examination (I) 2012



The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will be conducting the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (I) 2012 at different venues located in 41 centres throughout the country on 15.04.2012 (Sunday). The e-admission Certificates for the candidates have been uploaded on the Commission’s website which may be downloaded. Letters of rejection to the candidates stating reasons  for rejection are being issued.
If any applicant is not able to download e-admission certificate he/she may contact UPSC Facilitation Counter on Telephone Nos. 011-23381125, 011-23385271 and 011-23098543 between (10:00 A.M to 5:00 P.M) on working days during working hours. The candidate may also send fax message on Fax No. 011-23387310. The candidate may note that no paper admission certificate will be issued by post. The candidate may also get “Venue information” through interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) of the Commission’s by dialling 011--23074458.
In case the photograph is not printed or available on the e- Admission Certificate, candidates are advised to carry two photographs (one identical photograph for each session) along with proof of identity such as Identity Card etc. and printout of e-Admission Certificate at the venue of the Examination. Candidates are advised to check their e-mail in case they have sent any representation.


MTech 2012 at NSIT, New Delhi



Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology, New Delhi has invited applictions for admission to MTech Programme of Academic Session 2012-13 in the following specialisations:

(i) Candidates must have passed BE / BTech degree in Electronics & Communication / Computer / Electronics / Electrical Engineering / Instrumentation & Control Engineering from the University of Delhi or equivalent from recognized University/  Institutions.
ORCandidates must have passed in the AMIE (India) Exam with appropriate specialization / Grad. IETE (India) AMIE (London) or any other examination in the concerned branch recognized as equivalent to BE degree by the University of Delhi. The preference shall be given to those candidates who are GATE qualified.
(ii) Candidates must have minimum one year's full time work experience in a registered firm / company / Industry / Educational and Research Institutes / any Government Department Or Government Autonomous organizations in the relevant field in which admission is being sought.
One year experience will be counted from the date of declaration of BE result. The candidates will be required to submit a "No Objection Certificate" from their employers.
(iii) A letter from the employer must be furnished stating that the candidate is being sponsored to get admission. The employer should also indicate that the candidate will not be withdrawn midway till the completion of the course.
C. Part Time MTech Programme :
(Six Semester Programme of three year duration)
(i) Candidates must have passed BE / BTech degree in Electronics & Communication / Computer / Electronics / Electrical Engineering / Instrumentation & Control Engineering from the University of Delhi or equivalent from recognized University / Institutions.
ORA candidate must have passed in the AMIE (India) Exam with appropriate specialization / Grad. IETE (India) AMIE (London) or any other examination in the concerned branch recognized as equivalent to BE degree by the University of Delhi.
(ii) Candidates must have minimum one year's full time work experience in a registered firm / company / Industry / Educational and Research Institutes / any Government Department Or Government Autonomous organizations in the relevant field in which admission is being sought. Age Requirement :
Candidate should be atleast twenty one years of age before the first day of October 2012. However, the Vice-Chancellor on the basis of individual merit may relax the age up to a maximum period of one year.

MBBS at JIPMER : Apply by April 27


Jawaharlal Institute of Post-Graduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) Puducherry, an autonomous organisation and an Institution of National Importance under Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, has notified the admission to MBBS Course of the academic year 2012-13.  There are 127 seats for MBBS at JIPMER.
Applicant should be an Indian National or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI), born on or before 1.1.1996 and should have passed or appeared for the Higher Secondary Course (10+2) or equivalent.
Selection to the course will be based on an All India Level Entrance Examination to be held from 10 AM to 12.30 PM on 27th May, 2012 (Sunday).
Application can be submitted only online, between 28.3.2012 and 27.4.2012.

After submission of online application, the applicant has to take a printout of the online application with the assigned number. This printout along with the required enclosures, photographs/finger prints etc., should reach "Professor (Academic), JIPMER, Dhanvantri Nagar (PO), Puducherry-605 006",  latest by 1.5.2012.
Though the details of the Centres for the examination are neither announced in the Notification nor published in the website, the examination was held at Bangaluru, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Guwahati, Kolkatta, Nagpur, New Delhi, Puducherry, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram and Vijayawada in 2011.
In 2011, the Examination had a paper with 200 multiple choice questions from English, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology, equally distributed among them. There were four alternatives for each question. Candidate had to indicate his/her response to the questions by darkening the appropriate circle completely with Ball-Point Pen, in the Answer sheet. Each correct response got one mark. There was no negative marking for incorrect answers. 
The academic fee per annum in 2011-12 was Rs. 1400/-.
As per the academic eligibility in 2011, applicant had to pass the Higher / Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher / Senior Secondary Examination or any one of the qualifying examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology and Mathematics or any other elective with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training after introduction of the 10+2+3 educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education.
The applicant must have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Bio-technology at the qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination. Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribe or Other Backward Classes / OPH applicants had to obtain 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Bio-technology taken together in the qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination. OPH candidates in general category needed a minimum of 45% marks in the qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination.
Those who had appeared or were to appear in the qualifying examination in March/April 2011 and whose results were not yet been declared at the time of applying, could also apply for admission, subject to their fulfilling the other eligibility criteria.
All General candidates who secured at least 50% marks, General OPH candidates who secured at least 45% marks, SC/ST/OBC applicants who secured at least 40% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology taken together in the Entrance Examination were considered for inclusion in the merit list.Application fee was Rs.1000/- for Unreserved/OBC and Rs.650/- for SC/ST.

Summer Programmes 2012 at IIA, Bangalore


Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore has invited ONLINE applications for admission to the following Summer Programmes of Year 2012.

NIMCET on May 20


NIMCET 2012, the NIT MCA Common Entrance Test, a National Level Test conducted for admission to the MCA programme at the NITs at Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli and Warangal for the year 2012-13 will be held between 10 AM and 12 Noon on 20th May 2012 (Sunday) at the following centres :

Examination pattern : NIMCET 2012 will consist of a single paper of 120 multiple choice questions from Mathematics (50 questions), Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning (40), Computer Awareness (10) and General English (20) with four choices for each question. Responses are to be marked in the OMR sheet using HB pencil only. Rough work is to be done in the Test Booklet and candidate should not do any rough work or put stray mark on the OMR Sheet. Each correct answer will fetch 4 marks and for each wrong answer 1 mark will be deducted. Eligibility : Applicants should be Indian Nationals who have secured at least 60%  aggregate marks or 6.5/10 CGPA (55% marks or 6.0/10 CGPA for SC, ST category) in (i) 12th (10 + 2) level or equivalent with Mathematics as one of the subjects at either 10+1 or 10+2 level or at both the levels and in (ii) Qualifying Degree which is full time Bachelor's Degree of minimum of  3 years duration, from a recognized University, with at least one of Mathematics, Statistics, Business Mathematics, Business Statistics, Discrete Mathematics, Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science, Computational Mathematics, Elementary Mathematics, Elementary Statistics.
The percentages of marks in 10+2 and qualifying degree are to be calculated on the basis of marks obtained in all the subjects (including optional subjects, if any) studied. Those who have completed/are completing qualifying Degree (Programme of minimum three years duration) from Open Universities are eligible to apply provided their programme is approved by UGC or AICTE and Distance Education Council (DEC) of Govt. of India. Those who are appearing for the qualifying examination can also apply for NIMCET-2012. Such candidates shall have to furnish the proof of fulfilling the eligibility criteria of NIMCET-2012 preferably at the time of Counseling / Admission but not later than 31st August, 2012, failing which their admission is liable to be cancelled by the respective NITs.

NIMCET 2012 application form is common for appearing for Entrance Test and for counseling for admission to MCA at all the eleven participating NITs offering MCA programme.
Fee : Application fee is Rs.1500/- for open / OBC category and Rs.750/- for SC/ST category which has to be paid by way of a Demand Draft drawn in favor of 'NIMCET-2012', payable at Warangal.
Pre requisites : Before commencement of submission of application form, the applicant should have his/her recent passport size photograph (alternatively, a digital passport size photograph) and signature kept ready for uploading. Separate files should be created for the scanned photograph and signature in appropriate format (.jpeg, .png only). Maximum permissible size of photograph file and signature file are 30 KB and 10 KB respectively. Further, applicant should keep the Demand Draft taken in favour of 'NIMCET-2012', payable at Warangal, ready to fill the DD details in the space provided.
Login Creation : Initially, applicants will have to create login with username and password for themselves and use the same, as and when required. Username must be a string containing at least six alphanumeric characters with first two and last two characters are alphabets. No special characters are allowed. Password must be a string containing at least six alphanumeric characters. No special characters are allowed.
Online Login Creation can be done till 9th April, 2012 (Monday). Application details are to be submitted as per the instructions. Last date for online submission of application is 12th April, 2012 (Thursday).
After submitting the details, applicants are required to take hard copy (a print out) of the electronically submitted online application.
Printout : The printout, along with copies of mark-sheets and pass certificates of SSC/10th Class, 12th Class and Bachelor Degree and the Demand Draft, with their name, address and Mobile/Phone Number and Application Number generated written on the reverse side of the Demand Draft should reach "The Secretary, NIMCET-2012, National Institute of Technology, Warangal-506004, Andhra Pradesh", by speed-post or registered-post or by hand latest by 5 pm on 16th April, 2012.

Candidates have to report at the allotted center with Admit Card by 9.15 AM on 20th May, 2012 (Sunday). Candidates have to bring their own HB pencil, eraser and black ball point pen. Calculators, mobile phones or any other electronic gadgets are not allowed in the examination hall.
Choice filling and locking : Candidates will be awarded NIMCET-2012 rank on or after 5.6.2012. They have to take a print out of their rank card made available in the website. Candidates who get rank can login and fill the choices of participating institutes in their order of preference between 12.6.2012 and 18.6.2012. They can modify these choices or reorder them any number of times. However, they have to lock their choices latest by 5 PM on 18.6.2012.
Online Seat Allotment and personally reporting at a remote/participating institute: Candidates will be offered seats based on their choices in the order of merit over four rounds of allotment. Candidates who are allotted a seat which implies, offered provisional admission, must report to any one of the participating institute which ever is nearer to his/her residence, called remote reporting, during the dates specified in the Information Brochure against each round of reporting, get the documents verified and pay the initial fee to mark their acceptance of the offered seat and give option (upgrade option in case a seat is upgraded in second/third round of allotment) in option form. They will also be issued a provisional admission letter.
Getting Admitted to Allotted Institute : After the fourth round of allotment, candidates are required to physically present at the latest allotted institute for registration, between 10.7.2012 and 12.7.2012.
Spot allotment round : After fourth round of reporting, vacant seats in various Participating NITs will be published at : http://nimcet2012.nitw.ac.in on 23.7.2012. If any candidate who has already got admitted in any NIT wishes to apply for these vacant seats, he/she has to apply for cancellation of admission to the seat and fill the choices afresh through that NIT. Candidates who were not allotted seat in any first through fourth round of allotment are also eligible for spot allotment, but such candidates also need to fill the choices afresh again.

IIMC admission : Apply now


Indian Institute of Mass Communication offers regular Post-graduate Diploma Courses. It is now time to apply for the 2012 batch of IIMC.
Since IIMC’s training programmes and alumni have made a mark, there have been demands to open more branches of the Institute. The selection for these seats will be based on qualification in a Written Entrance Examination, followed by Group Discussion / Interview or both for the candidates who qualify in the Written Examination. The applicants for NRI / NRI-sponsored seats are not required to appear for written examination.
Essential: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Those who have appeared / are appearing for a degree examination are also eligible to apply. If selected, their admission will be subject to their producing at least a provisional certificate in original from their college / university before 31 August 2012, failing which the provisional admission will stand cancelled.
Date of birth: For general category candidates: 1.8.1987 or later. For SC/ ST/ Physically Handicapped candidates, the date is 1.8.1982 or later. For OBCs it is 1.8.1984 or later.

Selection of Candidates
Eligible candidates will be called at their own expense for a written entrance examination on 21 May 2012 at New Delhi/Bhubaneswar/Kolkata/ Lucknow/ Mumbai/ Patna/ Guwahati/ Bangalore/ Nagpur/ Aizwal/ Chennai/ Kochi/ Jammu/ Srinagar and Bhopal. The Institute reserves the right to call any candidate for entrance examination at any centre (other than his/ her choice) for administrative reasons. The entrance examination for the course in Oriya Journalism will be held on 22 May 2012 at Bhubaneswar only.
Candidates who appear in the written examination will be ranked on the basis of the marks obtained by them for the course they appear for. A shortlist will be prepared for each of the courses (including a separate shortlist for the reserved seats in each course). The short-listed candidates will be called for an interview/ group discussion during the last week of June/first week of July 2012 in New Delhi at the candidates’ own expense.
The list of candidates to be admitted to the courses will be prepared on the basis of the combined marks obtained by the candidates in the written examination and in the interview / group discussion. The weightage for the written examination and the interview / group will be 85: 15.
It is important for the candidates for P.G. Diploma in Journalism (English) to indicate their preference for New Delhi, Dhenkanal (Orissa),Amaravati (Maharastra), Aizawl (Mizoram), Jammu (J&K)and Kottayam (Kerala) clearly in the boxes given for this purpose. In case no preference is indicated by the candidate, the Institute will allocate New Delhi, Dhenkanal, Amravati, Aizawl, Jammu and Kottayam at its own discretion. No representation with regard to change of campus will be entertained once the selection is finalised.
IIMC is making all efforts to make the Jammu and Kottayam ( Kerala) regional centres operational for the academic year 2012-13. If, for some reason, these centres do not become operational, then the students selected against these centres will be adjusted at Amravati, Aizwal and Dhenkanal regional centres of IIMC.
The Institute will not be responsible for postal delays and / or loss in transit. Any dispute in regard to any matter shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Delhi Courts only.
Fees
After payment of the 1st instalment of fees, in case a candidate fails to join classes by 10.8.2012 without any intimation to the Institute, his / her admission will be cancelled forthwith and the seat thus vacated shall be offered to the next candidate in the merit list & the fees paid will stand forfeited.
Tuition fee for Course No. 1 & 2 is Rs. 46,000/- each, for Course 3 it is Rs. 92,000/-, Course No. 4 Rs. 64,000/- and Course No. 5 Rs. 26,000/-. For NRI candidates, the fee is US $ 8,000 for Journalism, US $ 12,000/- for Ad & PR and Radio & TV Journalism. These candidates must also send a DD in favour of IIMC, New Delhi of US$ 50 as Group Discussion and Interview fee along with the application form.
In addition, at the time of admission, Rs. 3000/- is to be deposited by all students towards the Student’s Welfare Fund. Students will have to pay their fees in two instalments:- the first instalment shall be payable in July 2012, on a date to be specified in due course and the second instalment by 15 December 2012.
Late fee will be charged with respect to payment of the second instalment of fees @ Rs. 20 per day after 15 December 2012. The names of the defaulters will be struck off the rolls on the last day of the month for failing to remit the fee along with late fee. Re-admission fee of Rs. 500 will be charged on re-admission within 15 days. The right of re-admission is reserved with the Institute. The paid-up instalment (s) of fee are not refunded if a student discontinues studies.
Hostel : Limited hostel facility is available in Delhi, Aizwal (only for girls). At Dhenkanal, Amravati, Jammu and Kottayam there is hostel facility for both girls and boys.
The Diploma Courses are full-time courses and students are not allowed to pursue any other full-time or part-time job or studies. Further, they are not permitted to undertake any full-time or part-time employment during the period. If any such violation is noticed, the Institute reserves the right to take suitable disciplinary action, including expulsion from the course.
Eligibility for Diploma
To be eligible for the award of a diploma certificate, every student will have to appear in the first and second semester examinations and secure a minimum of 40% marks in each subject.

Admission Procedure
1. The selection for admission to all courses is based on a written examination followed by a personal interview / group discussion. Separate entrance examinations will be held for Journalism courses in English, Hindi & Oriya, Radio & TV Journalism and Advertising & Public Relations.
2. The proportionate weightage between the written entrance examination and the personal interview/ group discussion is 85:15.
3. There is no standardised pattern for the written examination. However, candidates will be judged on the following parameters:
a) For Journalism Courses:
i) General Awareness, including understanding of social dynamics; interest in social history; awareness of public debates on matters of polity and economy; awareness about international developments influencing power equations in the world and their impact on India.
ii) Aptitude & mental make-up
iii) Language capability
iv) Analytical & comprehension skills
b) For Advertising & Public Relations:
i     General awareness
ii     Aptitude & mental make-up

The written entrance examination will be held on an all-India basis at New Delhi, Bhubaneswar (Orissa), Patna (Bihar), Lucknow (U.P.), Kolkata (W.B.), Guwahati (Assam), Bangalore (Karnataka), Mumbai, Nagpur (Maharashtra), Bhopal (MP), Chennai (TN), Aizwal (Mizoram),Jammu, Srinagar (J&K) and Kochi (Kerala).
Although a preference for examination centre is obtained from the candidate, the Institute reserves the right to call any applicant for the written entrance examination at any centre at his/ her own expense. A centre for written entrance examination and interview, once allotted, will not be changed under any circumstances.
All the candidates who qualify in the written entrance examination will be called for an interview / group discussion in the last week of June / first week of July, 2012 in New Delhi at their own expense. For the Oriya Journalism course, the interview / group discussion will be held at Dhenkanal (Orissa).
A list of candidates to be provisionally admitted to each course will be prepared on the basis of the combined marks obtained by candidates in the written examination and interview / group discussion.
How to fill up the Application Form
1. The applicant should fill the form in his / her own handwriting.
2. For each course, a separate form is required to be submitted for the: i) Journalism Course in
English; ii) Journalism Course in Hindi; iii) Journalism Course in Oriya; iv) Radio & TV Journalism; and v) Advertising & Public Relations .
3. Please start filling up the application form only after reading and fully understanding the instructions.
4. Do not use a pencil for filling the form. Use Black Ink only.
5. Please paste your recent passport size photograph, duly attested, on the Application Form.
6. Do not use dash (-) or dots (. . .). If any item in the application form is not applicable to you, write ‘NA’ (not applicable); or ‘No’, ‘Nil’, and, if applicable, indicate it with a tick (.) mark.
7. Applicants born on or after August 1, 1987 only are eligible for admission. However, relaxation in age of 5 years is given to SC, ST, and Physically Handicapped candidates and relaxation in age of 3 years to OBC candidates.
8. If the answer is ‘Yes’ against column 6 of the application form, clearly indicate as to which category (SC/ST/OBC) the applicant belongs.
9. Only Indian Nationals are eligible for these courses.
10. The applicant is required to put his / her specimen signature in the space provided in the Specimen Signature Box. The candidate will be allowed to enter the examination hall only on production of the Admittance Card issued by the Institute.
11. Apply only very little gum at the edge of the flap for sealing the application forms in the envelope, so as to avoid damage to the form while opening the envelope.
12. It is very important that the application form be filled as per the instructions carefully and correctly. It is the personal responsibility of the applicant to ensure correctness in filling up this form. Any deliberate misrepresentation of information discovered even after the provisional admission would result in cancellation of admission to the course.

v) A candidate with MSc in a relevant area is also considered for admission to the Department of Biotechnology. The Candidate should have a minimum of 7.5 CPI or 70% marks in Master’s level.

vi) A regular student of IIT Guwahati who is continuing his / her MTech studies and having a minimum CPI of 8.0 at the end of second semester may be enrolled in the PhD programme of the Department in the beginning of his / her third semester of study. Such students can receive only PhD Degree.

vii) A student of IIT Guwahati who is continuing his / her BTech studies and having a minimum CPI of 6.5 at the end of sixth semester may be enrolled in the PhD programme of the Department in the beginning of his / her seventh semester of study. Such students can receive dual BTech and PhD Degree. Both the degrees will be awarded after completion of PhD degree.

PhD in Design:
For admission to the PhD Programme in Design, a candidate must satisfy one of the following criteria:

i) Candidates having MArch / MDes degree or MTech / ME degree in a relevant area, with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% of marks.

ii) Master’s degree in Applied Arts / Ergonomics / Fine Arts / Psychology / Physiology with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% marks.

iii) Bachelor’s degree in Design or Engineering / Technology in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 7.5 or 70% of marks.

(b) Minimum experience required for sponsored (Full-time), Self-Financed, and Part-Time categories of candidates, have been indicated below. 4-year Bachelors’ degree or equivalent in Design, Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design or a Design related field.
OR 4-year Professional Diploma in Design of NID or Professional Diploma of CEPT (5-year programme) 

Application Procedure:
For getting access and filling-up Online Application Form or for downloading / taking print-outs of the Guideline visit website: https://auto.iitg.ernet.in
After getting the print-out of Online Application Form, you may:

(a) affix your passport-size photograph at the assigned portion of the print-out of your filled-up Online Application Form; 
(b) put your signature with date on the print-out of your filled-up Online Application Form; and 
(c) enclose attested copies of all relevant documents

If a candidate is shortlisted and called to appear in Written Test and / or Interview, he / she should immediately arrange a Demand Draft for Rs.150/- (Rs.75/- for SC / ST / PD candidates), from any nationalized bank, in favour of Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, payable at Guwahati. Such a candidate, on the day of the Written Test and / or Interview, will have to submit the original Demand Draft, along with other documents listed above, in the department / centre in which he / she is applying for admission.  

Starting of online application process - from 10.00 am of 19 March 2012 onwards. 
Closing of online application process - by 5.00 pm of  23 April 2012
