Candidates eligible for central counseling based on AIEEE 2012 will get the facility for filling their choices for Institutions and branches included in the allotment, at the CCB website between June 16 and June 25, 2012 from places convenient to them.
The Central Counseling Board (CCB) constituted by the Govt. of India to coordinate admissions to UG Degree Programmes in Engineering, Technology and Architecture in selected institutions has published the Information Brochure related to the allotments and admissions to 30 NITs, 5 IIITs/IIITM/IIITDM, 13 Central/State Government funded institutions and 45 Self Financed Institutes that will admit candidates on the basis of their performance in AIEEE-2012, to the first year of Engineering/Technology and Architecture/Planning programmes through a centralized counseling procedure, for the academic session 2012-13.
The entire admission process consists of four steps, namely...
(i) Online registration: Here the candidates eligible for central counseling have to register themselves for online counseling in the CCB website between June 16 and June 25, 2012 from places convenient to them with facility for Spot Round registrations during 3rd August to 6th August, 2012

(ii) Online choice filling and locking: Online choice filling and locking of choices is to be done after registration, when the candidates will be able to exercise their branch/institute choices on the CCB website using Internet during June 16 to June 25, 2012, from places convenient to them
(iii) Online Seat Allotment and Reporting to a Center: Candidates will be offered seats based on their choices in the order of merit (AIEEE All India Rank) over multiple rounds of allotment. Candidates who are allotted a seat/offered admission, have to report to any one of the ‘Reporting Centers' during the time frames specified, get the documents verified and pay the initial fee to mark their acceptance of the offer of seat and exercise upgrade Options, if required. They will also be issued a provisional admission letter
(iv) Getting Admitted to Allotted Institute: Candidates have to be physically present at the ‘Allotted Institute' where the candidate is getting admitted after verification of all original documents as per the procedure of the allotted institute.
The first four rounds of admissions will cater for admissions to all institutions except Self Financing Institutions, which will be considered for Spot Round only.
Pre-allotment steps: All eligible candidates will get the facility to register and fill their choices online, during the period from June 16 to June 25, 2012 at www.ccb.nic.in. Details related to the Registration 3.1 of the Brochure. They must verify their personal information during online registration and also read carefully all terms and conditions before clicking on the ‘I agree’ check box. Indicative seat availability will be displayed at frequent intervals on the CCB website during June 16 to June 25, 2012 to enable the candidates to assess the institutions and branches likely to be available to them as per their All India Rank (AIR). During this period, the candidates are free to change, reorder, delete and add to their choices of branches/institutes as per their preference.
All the candidates must lock their final choices before 5 pm on June 25, 2012. Candidates will not be able to unlock their choices once they are locked. If candidates fail to explicitly lock their choices by 5 pm on June 25, 2012, their last saved choices will be automatically locked after this deadline. Candidates must take printout of their locked choices. This print out, which will also mention the terms and conditions to be agreed by the candidates, has to be signed and submitted at the time of reporting for admission.
Registered candidates who did not fill any choices or failed to save them will not be considered for seat allotment and admission. However, they are permitted to fill choices after the third round for participating in the fourth round. If they again fail to fill any choices and/or fail to save them, they will not be considered for seat allotment in the fourth round. However, they can be considered for the spot round admission, if they register for it, between August 3 and August 6, 2012. Eligible candidates who did not register during June 16 to June 25, 2012 are permitted to do fresh registration and choice filling for fourth round.
Some of the institutions and branches have, additional restrictions on qualifications, age, gender and categories. Candidates should ensure themselves that they satisfy all the additional criteria before they fill in their choices for these branches/institutes. Details are given in Section 6.3 of the Information Brochure.
Seat Allotment and reporting to Reporting Center: The first round of seat allotment will be displayed on June 27, 2012, at www.ccb.nic.in. Individual allotment letters will not be sent to the candidates. All the candidates who get an allotment will have to report in person to any one of the Reporting Centers, failing which allotted seat will be cancelled. Further, they will not be considered for further rounds of seat allotment, except for Spot Round for which they have to register afresh during August 3 to August 6, 2012.
Payment of Fee: Candidates belonging to OP, OPPH, OBC, OBCPH, OM and OMPH categories have to pay an initial fee of Rs.35,000/- and those belonging to SC, SCPH, ST and STPH categories, Rs.25,000/-. The payment can be made through Credit/Debit card or through e-challan or through NEFT or through Demand Draft. This initial fee would be adjusted towards the total fee payable by the candidates at the Allotted Institutes.
When a candidate checks his/her seat allotment online for each round of allotment, the provisional seat allotment result that is displayed in the web site will have a link, ‘Note: For Initial Fee payment click here’. On clicking this link, the mode of fee payment window will appear. Candidates can choose one of the four modes of initial fee payment (i) Online payment using Debit/Credit card, (ii) e-challan, (iii) NEFT or (iv) Demand Draft. Details are available in the Brochure at Clause 3.4.2.
Candidates have to produce all the relevant certificates in original for verification, signed printout of locked choices and provisional allotment letter, printed from the web site, when they report to the Reporting Center.
Proof of payment of initial fee of Rs. 35,000/- (for OP, OPPH, OBC, OBCPH, OM and OMPH candidates)/Rs. 25,000/- (for SC, SCPH, ST and STPH candidates) is to be produced at the time of reporting.
Candidates shall, at this point, indicate their willingness to be considered for further allotments. They can express their willingness to be considered for all of their higher preference choices (across the institutes) during further rounds of seat allotment (Option I) OR choose to remain within the institute allotted to them for consideration of higher choices within the institute (Option II) OR choose to remain with the institute and branch allotted to them (Option III).
A provisional admission letter will be issued to the candidates at the Reporting Center after the fees are paid, and all certificates/credentials are found in order. The second round of allotment will be displayed on July 5, 2012, and the third round of allotment on July 12, 2012.
Option I and Option II candidates will forfeit their claim on seats allotted to them in earlier rounds, if they are allotted other seats against their higher preference choices during subsequent rounds.
Candidates at any stage before July 30, 2012 can approach the Reporting Center, where they had initially reported, to withdraw from the CCB-2012 counseling process and also to initiate the process of refund of initial fee (admissible amount) paid by them.
Reporting at Reporting Center/Allotted Institute: Candidates, who get their seat allotment for the first time in any of the first three rounds of allotment, will report to any one of the Reporting Centers during the respective reporting periods. During the reporting period against the second round of allotment, candidates who have taken provisional admission during the first round may change their Option from Option I to Option II, or Option I to Option III or Option II to Option III. For this purpose, they will have to report during July 6 and July 10, 2012 to the same Reporting Center to which they had reported earlier for provisional admission.
At the end of reporting for the third round of allotment on July 16, 2012, candidates who have taken provisional admission in Round 1, 2 or 3 of allotment will have to report either to Allotted Institute or Reporting Center as follows:
(i) Candidates who participated in third round as Option II or Option III candidates, will go to their Allotted Institute for admission (July 17 to July 22)
(ii) Candidates, who participated in third round as Option I candidates and are now satisfied with the seat allotted to them, will go to their Allotted Institute for admission (July 17 to July 22)
(iii) Candidates, who participated in third round as Option I candidates and are NOT satisfied with the seat allotted to them but wish to continue to be considered for admission in further rounds, should report again to their respective Reporting Centers for surrendering their seats and getting their choices unlocked (July 13 to July 16)
(iv) Candidates who are allotted seats for the first time in the third round should report to a Reporting Center for taking provisional admission (July 13 to July 16). Of these candidates, those choosing Option II and Option III will go to their Allotted Institutes for admission (July 17 tJuly 22) after reporting to the Reporting Center. Those choosing Option I after third round should report to the Reporting Center only for surrendering their seats and getting choices unlocked (July 13 to July 16).
(i) Candidates who participated in third round as Option II or Option III candidates, will go to their Allotted Institute for admission (July 17 to July 22)
(ii) Candidates, who participated in third round as Option I candidates and are now satisfied with the seat allotted to them, will go to their Allotted Institute for admission (July 17 to July 22)
(iii) Candidates, who participated in third round as Option I candidates and are NOT satisfied with the seat allotted to them but wish to continue to be considered for admission in further rounds, should report again to their respective Reporting Centers for surrendering their seats and getting their choices unlocked (July 13 to July 16)
(iv) Candidates who are allotted seats for the first time in the third round should report to a Reporting Center for taking provisional admission (July 13 to July 16). Of these candidates, those choosing Option II and Option III will go to their Allotted Institutes for admission (July 17 tJuly 22) after reporting to the Reporting Center. Those choosing Option I after third round should report to the Reporting Center only for surrendering their seats and getting choices unlocked (July 13 to July 16).
All Option I candidates who report to the Reporting Center between July 13 and July 16, 2012 and wish to continue to be considered for admission, will have to surrender all claims on the seat currently allotted to them. The Reporting Center will unlock their original choices and these candidates can modify their choices during July 17 and July 22, 2012.
Eligible candidates who did not register during June 16 to July 25, 2012 are permitted to do fresh registration, choice filling, saving and locking for fourth round. Moreover, registered candidates who did not fill any choices or failed to save them are also permitted to fill choices after the third round for participating in the fourth round. Tentative number of candidates reported and admitted will be displayed on the CCB website during July 17 to July 22, 2012.
Candidates reporting for admission to the Allotted Institute during July 17 to July 22, 2012, will be given an opportunity to exercise their branch choices within the institute for fourth round of allotment and internal sliding, irrespective of the Option chosen by them in round 1, 2 and 3.
Candidates who have been offered seats in round 1, 2 or 3, but do not report to the Reporting Center and/or to the Allotted Institute as the case may be, after the third round, will forfeit their claim on the allotted seats and will not be considered for seat allotment in the fourth round. However, they will be permitted to participate in the Spot Round, for which they have to again register during August 3 to August 6, 2012.
Choices of all registered candidates who do not get a seat allotment in round 1, 2 or 3 will be automatically unlocked on July 17, 2012. These candidates can also modify their choices during July 17 and July 22, 2012. They are not required to approach any Reporting Center for getting their choices unlocked.

Fourth Round: A fourth round of seat allotment that takes into account the modified choices of eligible candidates and newly registered candidates will be done on July 25, 2012. Candidates who are allotted a seat in the fourth round should report directly to the Allotted Institutes during July 25 to July 30, 2012. These candidates may fill in their preferences of branches within the Institute at the time of reporting. Candidates who do not report to the Allotted Institute (Admitting Institute) will forfeit their claim on the allotted seat. However, they will be permitted to participate in the Spot Round, for which they should register again during August 3 to August 6, 2012.
Internal Sliding: After four rounds of allotment, 'internal sliding' amongst candidates admitted in an institute will be conducted, on August 1, 2012. The sliding is based on the choices/preferences filled in by candidates at the time of getting admitted to the institute. After this internal sliding, vacancies will be displayed on August 2, 2012 at www.ccb.nic.in
Spot Round: Candidates who are eligible for central counseling and have not taken admission in an institute within the 4th round are eligible for the Spot Round. Candidates who are eligible for central counseling but had not registered during June 16 to June 25 and July 17 to July 22, 2012, would also be permitted to register and fill their choices. Intending candidates should register, fill choices and lock them online from places convenient to them or from Help Centres during August 3 to August 6, 2012. Registrations, if any, done earlier will stand cancelled. The declared vacancies will include those available in NITs, IIITs and other Central/State Government Funded Institutions (GFIs) after internal sliding along with all the seats offered by Self Financed Institutions (SFIs). Details on the procedure of Spot Round are given in Section 4.6 of the Information Brochure.
After registration and choice filling candidates must visit the nearest Reporting Center to get their documents verified, pay the fee of Rs. 45,000/- (for OP, OPPH, OBC, OBCPH, OM and OMPH candidates) / Rs. 40,000/-(for SC, SCPH, ST and STPH candidates) in the form of Demand Draft only. The result of the Spot Round of allotment will be displayed on August 8, 2012.
In case of GFIs a candidate is deemed to be admitted subject to fulfilling conditions laid out for admission by the admitting institute. In case of SFIs admission on allotment is provisional, to be confirmed by the institute concerned after the balance dues are paid by the candidate.
Candidates admitted in GFIs will report to their respective Institutes for classes, immediately after allotment. Class attendance will be counted from August, 13, 2012 onwards. It is unlikely that there will be more spot rounds. However, in case such situation arises, announcement will be made in the CCB website at appropriate time.
